A. .BOAT RACE came off on Saturday afternoon, ! for silver tankards, between two of the Club s , boats -the Sons of old Colonist? and Spitfire, j The former was manned by Messrs. Hopkins, j Kean, and Clare (three of the selected creyv j for Christ church), and T. Henderson ; and I the Mterof Messrs. Provo, Manning, Oxloy, - and IT. Henderson. The boats started away I from the Queen-street wharf, the course being j round a boat oft' Freeman's Bay, and back to ' the wharf. Shortly after leaving, the two j boat; fouled, and having separated, the j "orack" crew gradually drew ahead.: When Off Smalo'e Poiut a mia'-ap oo-cun-ed, by Provo (of the Spitfire), breaking j his oar, thus loiring the race entirely in the , hands of the Colonist, winch pulled round the , course with perfect ease.
