Militia and Volunteer Office, Auckland, November 25, 1871. TEE FIRST .STAGE of the Kifle Match for the Mayor's Cup will bt> fired on SATURDAY NEXT, the 2nd December, commencing at 9 o'clock, on the Mount Eden Rifle Range. The Match to be fired under the following Rules :— Competitors to appear in uniform ; the Cup to be comneted for by Volunteers of all branches of the force, but with Enfteld Rifles. Each competitor must produce his efficiency certificate for the year, or for the half-year ending March 31,1871. The Match to consist of S stages, the highest aggregate scorer to be the winner of the Cup. Ist. Stage. -Ranges, 150 and 200 yards ; standing ; 5 shots at each range. No compfttitor to pass into second stage who does not score 25 points or upwards. Target, 6x 4 ; centre, 2x2; bull's eye, 8 inches square. 2nd. Stage.- Eanges, 300 and 400 yards ; kneeling ; 5 shots at each range. Xo competitor to pass into third stage whose score in this and first stage, added together, does not amount to 50 points. Targets same as first stage for 800 yards ; and for 400 yards, 6x G ; centre 4x4; bulk's eye, 2 x 2 ■ 3rd.
