ACCIDENT AT THE UNA MINE.
ON Saturday afternoon a youth named Joseph May was seriously injured by t?iu accidental rolling of a log dawn the luce of the Karaka Hill. He was engaged assisting the blacksmith at the Utta.nnne, and at übout half-past three ./clock he wont to the ]\ ro. 2 level, to carry picks to the blacksmith's shop, in order U> have them pointed. While he was stoopm" to raise the picks from the ground, a Unvjjog of timber, eight feet ia length, and about" ten inches in diameter, camo rolling down Lhe (ace of l; >e hill, and t-trucU him apparently in the chest. He was insensible when picked up by a I man named Alfred Bagnall, who was en- ; gagid preparing sets of timber within ■'. few yards of the >pot.
