THE OPERA.
To the Editor of the Evening StA& Sir,-—I was present at-i the Prince of W«j? Theatre last night, to hear the opera of ySomnambula," and. was much surprised 0 disappointed to find there was no appeal*" of Teresa (Amina's mother), and, that,in 0* sequence, all her part waa omitted. ftßPPj\; to me that the management take great lif* I ties with the Auckland public,• thinking, r^ haps, they don't understand nor hare«'^ heard an opera properly • performed. iOJ/ this is a great mistake, as I know there t many here, like myself, who^We sf Djtbesc operas at home and' abroad. Pjtf ® 1' Editor, when the company are sLJ —" Pa . nised, they should do all in th? po^r please; arid if they don't haveJ.pproP^i scenery, &c, at least should not? curtail portion of tho music or singing. In sion, I should also like to know ] overture is not played previously to tje r of the curtain ?—'l am. &c, ■I _ .-I A CoNSTANrVisMO 8- I
