The p.s. Duke of Edinburgh will leave for Wangarei to-morrow (Tuesday), at 7 p.m. The p.s. Duke of Edinburgh left Russell on Saturday night about 10 p.m., and on reaching midway between Robinson Island and Red Head, was struck on the starboard bow by some large floating substance, which sprung two of the planks, and glancing along the side, smashed several floats of the paddle wheel. The Duke returned to the Bay, and the injured planks were carefully cut out, and the part recoppered, in a manner as perfect as it could have been done at Auckland. Last night the Duke resumed her voyage, leaving Russell at half-past six, and arrived in the harbour at half past one this afternoon. The schooner Golden Isle left Russell on Friday with 116 tons of coal. She was windbound at the Kawau on Sunday.
The schooner Herald arrived at Russell on the 9th instant.
The Petrel, from Tauranga, brings 8 tons g_m and 40 bushels maize. The Ivanhoe, for Mongonui, will sail this evening.
