DISTRICT COURT.— Monday.
[Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., District
Judge.] The usuai bi-monthly sitting of this Court was held this morning, and tho following business disposed of :— Prendergast y. Todd. —Claim £45 10s. 6d.—This case, which had been before tho Court for many months, it was slated by Mr. Hesketh, had been settled. Nathan v. Leßoy.—Claim, £88 12i. lOd. —This case had been before the Court sevcrjiweeks. The cause of action related to a con tract for cloi-hing the Naval Volunteer Company. The parlies consented to go to arbitration. It was agreed that the arbitration should be brought up to-morrow (Tuesday) morning. Carfrae and Others v. Lady Bird and Hand of Friendship Gold Miking Company.-Claim, £84 16s. — Mr. Bennett appeared for the plaintiff, who is the proprietor of the " Russell" battery in Graliamstown. The claim comprised the charges for quartzcrushing.—Tho plaintiff was examined, and j proved the claim in the usual way. There j was no appearance by the defendant.— Judg- j ment passed for the plaintiffs. ' Robert Vaile y. Thomas Lerdom and j W. F. Hoskins.- Claim, £5G 4s. 6d—Mr. James Russell for the plaintiff; Mr. Mac- , Cormick for the defendants. —This was a j claim arising from the balance of an account, j The defendants reside at Taranaki, and they ] allege that account sales had not been given ; by the plaintiff until a long time after tho j goods, which made the cause of action, wore j sold. —The Court suggested the propriety of j referring matters of account to arbitration.-.-Counsel ultimately agreed to refer .tfß ; matters in difference to the arbitration ol &Wl\' Hesketh.
