RETURN OF JAMES FARMER, ESQ., FOR CITY WEST.
A PUBLIC meeting of tho electors of City West was held to-day, at the rooms of the Young Men's Christian Association, for the purpose of nominating an elector of that district to represent them in the Provincial Council, iv tho place of Mr. T. B. Hill resigned. The Ketunving Officer occupied the chair, and read the order convening the meeting. Tho attendance was very poor indeed, only about twelve porso-m present. - Thomas Russell, Esq., proposed Mr. James Farmer as ti fit and proper person to represent them in the Provincial Council. He (vi r. Kussell) took this opportunity of eongrutuhiti.ig the electors of Oily West on the nomination of a gentleman so well qualified in every respect as Mr. Farmer is to advocate their interests in the Council; and if tluy elected him, they would find that I heir confidence had not been misplaced. H. Ktlis, Et-q., seconded the nomination, tie was sure 'that no better man could be procured than Mr- Farmer for the representation of their interests, Ho Was well qualified in (ivory .iuise of tho word, and as some very important. m .iters would come up at tho sitting of the Council, they required a man of ability and -t, ndiiig in society to represent them, and in Mr. Farmer they had all this.-No other candidate appearing, Mr. Fanner was declared duly elecled.—The meeting dispersed, neglecting even to pass the customary vote of thanks t ; the Chairman.
