An accident of a painful nature occurred last evening to a young man named Henry Newport, who was employed at Unthank and Berry's tailing machine, at the foot of the Moanatairi, as engineer. At the time of the accident he was cleaning the cog-wheels of the engine, and used a piece of flannel to wipe off the grease. The flannel caught between the cogs, ahd in trying, thoughtlessly enough, to pull it out, his own hand was drawn into the wheels. The two middle fingers of the right hand were fearfully lacerated and broken, and the little finger of the same hand was also ninch bruised.— Advertiser, Nov. 4. A call of threepence per share has been made in the Moanatairi Union Gold Mining Company. . Thomas Macffarlane, Esq., has been appointed trustee in the estate of Solomon John JFernaadez. ■ „ ~ Unless all calls due in the Mary Ann G-old Mining Company are paid by the 20th inst., proceedings will be taken against defaulting shareholders.
