Perhaps the punishment of a person this morning for driving up a narrow street at a rale which rendered it unsafe tor any of Her M:ij.-Bl.>'s subjects to patrol the thoroughfare, will have soui'jwbal' oi a deterrent effect. More accidents have occurred in this city from Ihe whirling of tradesmen's spring-carts round the corners, than from any other cause. Iv most elite* in the Australia*, vehicles are compelled to proceed at a walk when crossing side-streets, or debouching from lanes and alleys on to the main thoroughfares. And such must be done here ere long, if wo are to be allowed to use the footpaths without having the fear of sudden and violent death before our eyes.
