The schooner Meteor arrived from Poverty Bay and East Coast this morning, with 150 bales wool, L. D. Nathan and Co. ; 20 ditto ditto, Owen and Graham ; 45 ditto, 30 ba»s maize, Lcvis Bros. ; 30 package, Trimmer. Captain Trimmer reports sighting a large number of whales in the Bay oi Plenty. The paddle Vernier S;imso-. [recently pur chased by Captain Clarke, of Port Chalmers, left the iinrbour a!, eight o'clock last evening. for Taurarfga- Napier, and Southern por:> On arrival at Duuedhr, she- will i,e employed a 3 a tug-boat. She left here in comtnaml ot Captain •Mandle. Prior to her departure, this useful little steamer was tsktm ou the slip at the North Sliore, v.here she vecoived a thorough overhaul. Her bottom was found to be in perfect order, and the machinery was also in first-rate order.
