We have received by tlie Gem, from Sydney, papers to the 7th inst., from which we take the following later telegrams : — SYDNEY. October 7. —The Rangoon sailed to day with 38,736 ozs. gold, 8,478 ozs. silver, and 18,454 so,-s., and 20 passengers.—The Earl and Countess of Belmo'-e left for Melbourne to-day.
October 6.—The P. and O. Company's steamship Malacca, under charter to the Lords-Commissioners of the Admiralty, will receive tho crews of H.M.S. Blaucho and Rosario on Wednesday, 11th inst., and will sail for Bombay via King George's Sound and Galle, on or about. Sunday, loth inst.—Mr. Anthony Trollope returned from Queensland on Monday, after a tour to the north of that colony, as far as Rockhampton. Mr. Trollope will stay in Sydney for about a fortnight, and then proceed to his son's station in the district of Young, from where ho will return to Sydney, and spood a few weeks, and then proceed to England via Melbourne. — Numerous transactions in the stock and share market were reported on 'Change to-day City Bank at £7 16s ; New South Wales, 37*'; Joint Stock, „9 7s 6d and £9 8s 6d ; >'ew Zealand, £19 ; United Insurance, 10s 6d ; Peak Downs Copper, 495, 48s, 47s 6d, 475.— •Messrs. Mori; and Co.'s wool sale was well attended, and out of a catalogue of 280 bales, 158 changed hands at very full prices. Fleece realised Hid to 17; id, greasy 6d to 18d ; sheepskins commanded good competition, and a large quantity Were quitted.
