CORRESPONDENCE.

[We are not responsible forour Correspondents' opinions.]

To the Editor of the Evening Stab,

SIE, —Permit me, through your columus, to draw the attention of my neighbours to the following clauses of " The Dog Nuisance Ace," which, they are doubtless aware, is in operation in this district, viz.

Clause 13. Any person who shall permit any bull dog, or mastiff, or a mongrel of either of the same, or any other dog which shall be knowi> to be dangerous, or to have bitten or injured any .person, or uny cattle, or other property; (whether such dog shall have a "dog ticket!^ affixed to him or not), to go at large withu.i*j| a muzzle securely fixed upon the mouth of every such : dog, so as to prevent the same from biting or injuring any person or any cabtle, or other property, shall, forfeit and pay for every such offeuco any auru not exceeding 40s, and any such dog so at large may be forthwith seized and killed by any constable.

. • Clause 14. If any dog shall ou uny highway or on any unenclosed place, rush at or attack any person or auy cattle, whereby the life or limbs of any person shall be endangered, or any cattle or other property injured, the owner of such dog shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding £5, without prejudice to any claim for the damage done by such dog.

Clause 16. Any constable neglecting to seize or destroy any dog as hereinbefore provided, shall forfeitand puy any sum not exceeding forty shillings. Through the nou-observance of the terms of the foregoing clauses by the owners of certain dogs in"this district, I have recently had a valuable dog. that T would not have lost on any account, torn to pieces in a shocking manner. Surely we avo furth'6l' advanced as a community than to require dogs of a formidable and ferocious nature either for amusement or protection, and I trust that my neighbours) Will tsike this friendly hint, and thus prevent others from sustaining a misfortune similar to mine.—l am, &0., . !
