CENTRAL ITALY GOLD MINING COMPANY.
A meeting of the Auckland shareholders of the Central Italy Gold Mining Company was held yesterday afternoon, at the Metropolitan Hotel, Queen-street. It appears that the Wal meeting of this company is to take plSpe nest week at the Thames, and the routing of yesterday was called by the jv 'Maud shareholders to appoint a committee to be present at that meeting on then* behalf. There was a very large attendance, and Mr. Beetham was called to the chair. Two of the directors (Messrs. Guthrie and Nosworthy), were present. A preliminary discussion took place on the action of the directors in taldng the responsibility of promtftaft expensive machinery without consulting the shareholders, and more than one of the speakers thought that their conduct Should be severely censured.-Mr. Firth said that shareholders, as a rule, were far too iond of censuring, and throwing cold water upon the action of their directors, who generally, it not always, acted for the best interest*i of the property ander their charge.-Tbe following resolutions were proposed and carried :-r "That a committed consisting oi Mr. Beetham, Mr. Ruddock, Mr Jdmes Friar and Mr. Keesing be appointed to.attend the meeting at Grabamstown on the 10th instant, and represent such shareholders as may desire to give their proxies; and to act at that meeting as may appear to them desirable, especially with a view to an amalgamation with the Golden Calf, the Nonpareil, and other neighbouring claims." "That this committee inspect the mine, and decide, in coniunction with the Board of Directors on the best course to be pursued for the future and immediate working of the mine and, if it is thought necessary to obtain machinery, that arrangements be made without delay tor procuring the same." That this committee have the power to call in any-experts, and obtain all assistance they may require, and that the directors be requested to meet the cost of such assistance, and the expenses incurred by this committee."—After some further discussion the meeting separated.
