The following is a copy of a telegram xcccivoil from the manager:—
"9.t£%.Jw i ... " The engine worked regularly for the last 21 hoursr,-and lowered the- ■water in the chamber 2 feet, but the pluramer block of the main shaft has just aplit. We are trying to get another here, but I fear we shall not succeed, if not it must come to Auckland to-night. Ihe stopee, and other parts, of the mine, are without alteration.''*
