THE EXCELSIOR MINSTRELS.
This highly talented company gave another entertainment last evening at the.City Hall with success equal to that of their previous endeavors to please the public. Tho room was pretty well filled ; and the audience, when not spell-bound by the able performance of the musical selections, was kept in irresistible laughter-by the .comicalities. Perhaps the best things on the. progjsamme, in -which all were good, were soli by Mr': Amery atid! Mr. Clark, a violin aolo by Mr-Herman, and another by Professor Saunders on the harp, of which instrument he-i* a psrfjeet master. As to the dancing, unless actually witnessed, the agility and the accuracy of rhythm "displayed by .Messrs."Kelly and Holly could not possibly be realised. The evening's, amusement was concluded by a -sketch -ealldd, "A Ghost in a Pawnshop,.'^, which 1 kept the audience .in., outbursts of irresistible mirth until their departure. This evening the same programme will be repeated, _and we think we cannot do better than advise all who can spare the time-to attend one of the most mirth-creating and harmless entertainments ever given in Auckland. Oiao or two things, however, ought to be noticed'; and a word or two of advice, mar not, peishagf,, be taken amiss. In the-'first place, if visitors would take their srabr n, Httlo earlier it would be conducive totlie comfort of those who arrive la good time, ajuxl would'allavr "the Minstrels to* commence operation*-4* tne appointed time; and, in the second place, we would beg the audience not to weary the performers by repeated encores,' but to remember that they are only paid for the quantity of wort shown on the programme.
