He again applied to his "friend" for relief, and Mr. Obugiein advanced tho money which he deemed sufficient to extricate him from his difficulties. In a few (lays after Bray again applied for further ndvancs, alleging th..L uo was again in danger of arrest by another party, on account of circumstances arising out of this share transaction. By backing bills, &»., Mr. Obugiein increased "hia advances to £750, the loss of which he is now left lamenting. On Wednesdny Bray went to Mr. MoTavish, in AuckJand, ' and stated that he was in need of gorno money, at the aaino time alleging that ho held s'mres in the Lowland Lass. Ho said he wanted £20, and thnt he, would transfer his shores to him (Mr. McTayisli!, only that they were held in Mr. Wrisht's name, who he stated owed him £180. He. told Mr. McTavish to telflghiph to Mr. Wright, and confirm the statement. Mr. JVlcTnvish did telegraph to Mr. Wright, bnt relying on the statement made to him, he advanc'ttd the money asked for before doing to. He recived a reply to tho effect that Mr. Bray held no shnrt-s In the Lowland J-ass, and that lie (Sir. Wright) owed him no money whatever. Upon this Mr. McTavish and Other creditors of the amiable gentleninn procure:! I ho assistance of ii posse of dotectives, find proceeded on board the Nebraska, then lying in the stream nbout to weijjh anchor tor Sydney. It would appear that Bray t;ofc wind of their intention, for on searching the Nebraska the only trace found of the missing gentleman was a carpet-bag. Tt is supposed that while tho detectives were searching the nail steamer Bray, nuisti have henn sailing out of the harbour in the barque Bella Mary, then under weigh for Kobart Town. A telegram was sent on by tho Hero to Sydney, so that steps miy be laken to arrest tho nbsconder. — Thames Advertissr, September 15.
