Dbttkkenness.—Six drunkards were dis; posed of in the usual manner.
Dkunk and Disoedeblt,—Maria Lilly was fined ten shillings and costs for this offence. |
Laecent.—Joseph Brophy was charged 'ith stealing a coat and cap, the property of
:ancis Scott, and rallied at £4 10s, from the
<3Sfc|rnor Browne Hotel, and pleaded guilty, stating in examination that he was under the influence of drink at the time. Sentenced to four months imprisonment, with hard labour. JBbeach ov Municipal Police Act.—Patrick Lawler, and John Stewart, charged with exposing a horse for training in a public place, namely Victoria-street. The offence having been proved, each defendant was fined twenty 'shillings [and•; costs,: with the ' alternative of forty-eight hours imprisonment. Bbeach Of Licensing Act.—G-eorge Rowley was charged with suffering alcoholic liquor to be sold on premises in his possession, to wit, the Canterbury Oyster Saloon, with! out being duly licensed. Mr. Joy appeared for the defendant, and pleaded guilty under extenuating circumstances, Sergeant Pai-rly detailed the particulars of the ollenco. His Worship reiterated the opinion which lin expressed on Saturday last, us to the udviaability of licensing all such houses, and fined defendant £25 with costs.
