VOLUNTEER MATTERS.
Last evening the membei'a of the newlyformed Auckland Scottish Volunteers met in one of the sheds in Port Britomart. The appointment of the Hon. Charles Taylor as captain of tho company was. confirmed, and that gentleman then took the chair, and stated that the services jpt the company had been accepted by the Governor. Mr. Owen Jones was then elected lieutenant, and a long discussion took place on the subject of the dress of the corps. It was unanimously resolved to wear the kilt, and the chairman stated that it would be necessary to send to England for the required accoutrements. It was resolved that in the meantime the tartan trousers and blue serge jacket should be worn. After the transaction of some further business, the meeting separated. At a meeting of the Naval Volunteers, held last evening at Fort Britomart, Captain LeKoy in tbo chair, Mr. Henry Chapman was unanimously elected first-lieutenant, and Mr. Eobt. Wells second-lieutenant. The men were afterwards put through a course of drill. Last evening the members of the Auckland Engineers held a parade at the Drill-shed. Captain ftargavillo was in command, and the different evolutions wero very creditably executed.
