EXCURSION TRIP.
A very Jarge number of persons availed themselves yesterday of the special trip made by the favourite steamer -Golden Crown to vi it. the mines at Coromandel and Grahamstown. The weather was very pleasant, and a most agreeable day was spent. The steamer did somo splendid work, travelling over 140 miles in 9 hours. She left the Queen-street wharf at 8.25 a.m., and arrived at Coromandel at 11.10 a.m., doing the distance in two hours and forty five minutes; left Coromandel at 11.55 a.m., and arrived at Grahamstown at 1.40 p.m., doing the distance in one hour and forty-five minutes ; left Grahamstown at 225 p.m., and arrived at Coromandel at 4.20 p.m., doing the distance in one hour and fifty-five minutes; left Coromandel at 5.10 p.m., and arrived in Auckland at 7.50 p.m., doing the distance in two hours and forty minutes. Tomorrow the Golden Crown will make a special trip to Grahamstown, leaving the wharf at 10 a.m., and Grahamstown in the evening. A large number will no doubt avail themselves of this opportunity.
