To the Editor of the Evening Stab.
Sic, —Having ventured across tHe tture*--hold of public life, I suppose I must submit to what appears to'be the inevitable* result,* viz., to have my actions misjudged, my words misinterpreted, mj motives questioned, and to be attacked by anonymous writers, bat on I one point I am determined, and that is never to be dragged-'- into a newspapeKtJkmtrovewv, or to answer those who, sheltered under a norn de plume, attack me. Let this suffice once and for all. I am, however, always willing to answer any questions "or afford any information to those who wish it, my place of business being quite as conveniently sitiulttal' and as well known us any newspaper offices,— I am, &c,
