STRANGE ANIMAL.
The singular animal recently caught at the Manukau iieads has been creating quite a sensation. The exhibition opened to-d.-y at two o'clock, at the Circus pavilion, and already a very large number of persons have visited it, and been greatly interested in its beauty, its singular qualities, and peculiar antics. It is really a beautiful animal, the head being a perfect resemblance to that of a dog, with large dark eyes, and the body bein""covered with jet black glossy fur. The flappers, instead of legs, and the parted tail, show the nature of its habitat; and the voracity with- which it makes a fish disappear, and the extraordinary vivacity and activity of the animal must, have made it and its brethren formidable enemies to the finny race. The exhibi tion will be open all this afternoon till ten at night, and wo presume again on Monday. We can strongly recommend a visit to this most singular and interesting sight.
