August 11.—Mr. Tolmie is appointed De-puty-Superintendent, and Mr. Culten, acting Treasurer.—All the members of the Assembly, except Reid, But.hgate, and Culder, have left in the I'licobe.—Mr. Calcutt lias been instructe.l by the G-eneiul Government to arrange with the Moeruki and Oumiiru land owners, with a view to the early construction of the railway line. — A proposition to reduce tho Mayor's salary to £250 was negatived, and £400 w.s voted.—There is no alteration in the markets.
