It was ri solved to return the designs. The Whamng Company.—A letter «•_. received from Mr. T. M. Clayton, Secretary of tho Auckland Whaling Company, asking fo. remission of one-half of the wharfage dues and fees. —Mr. Casey did not think it right that ths fees should be remitted.—Mr. Philips moved that the request of the writer be agreed to -- Seconded by Mr. Tonks, who said that upto a future occasion he would move that all p or t charges be remitted one-half upon wh^n» vessels frequenting this port—Mr. Dargaville said he was interested in the success of ths company, but he should vote against the p ro . posal as a bad precedent. On being put ths motion was lost. J ' The Lake District.—A letter was read from the chairman of this district asking the Board to take over the contract of improving the wharf. 8
