FATAL ACCIDENT.—KYBER PASS ROAD. To the Editor of the Evening- Star.
Sib, —lam very glad to see that some kind and charitably disposed persons are endeavoring to raise a subscription for the poor, bereaved widow and childron, and doubt not but many will cheerfully respond to the appeal; but permit mo to say that a subscription really does not meet the case. As that poor family, so suddenly plunged into sorrow and want, aro entitled to ample compensation from tho owner of the horse ; and had it occurred in the old country, I question very much if ho would not have been tried for manslaughter, as I huve good authority for stating, at the timo of tho accident tho horse was without blinkers, which doubtless caused him to shy. If persons will bo so cureless and negligent, thoy should bo made an example of.—l am, &0., Sympathy, July 26,1871.
