Company's s.s. Jamcß PaterBOn, in command of Captain 0. E. Saunders, arrived in harbour yesterday iil'tomoon, after a capital passage of 5£ days from Sydney. She brings a very large cargo and several passengers. We are indebted lo Mr. Banks, chief officer, for full files of Sydney and Melbourne papers. The James Paterson left Sydney Heads at 10 p.m. on Monday last, the 17th instant ; rounded the North Cnpe at 6.30 p.m., on the 22nd; and arrived at the ■wharf at 3.30 p.m., yesterday. She experienced strong W. and S.W. winds with equally weather and very high sea until rounding the North . Cape, thence fresh southerly breeze and cloudy -weather. Passengers : Mr. and Mrs. Young, Mr. Matthews, and 20 in the steerage. The p.s. James Paterson commenced to discbarge her cargo from Sydney this mornirjg. ' H.M.S.S. Basalisk left Sydney for Wellington on the 13th instant. The favorite old traders Novelty and Kate have been taken off the line between Sydney and this port. The Novelty has sailed for Lyttelton, and the Kate for .Shanghai. The barque Alice Cameron arrived at Sydney on the 16th instant from this port. The brig Australia, Captain Hamilton, left Newcastle for Auckland with 240 tons coal, on the 11th instant.
