THE QUEEN-STREET PAVEMENT.
Last evening a mooting of persons interested in tho formation of the above was held in a room belonging to the Young Men's Chrisliun Association, and ; to judge from the attendance,-, very dittla; interest, was I manifested in the matter, there being only;.?six_persous _presentj ha% these; only,-after waiting a considerable' tin^e. The mooting was; called in consequence Of the proposed action of/Mr. Atkin in reference to compelling the owners of property in Queen-street tp properly pave tho same. The following aro the names of ,the persons who wcro present: —Messrs. C^ss, Cromwell, Shalders, Williams, Marsh, and Mumford. The following series of resolutions were drawn up by Mr. Shalders, and agreed to : —Ist., " That this meeting is of. opinion that it is desirable that tlie - Construction of the'pathway in Quocnstreet should be proceeded with as extensively as is practicable." 2nd. " That the expense should be equally borne by the Corporation and the owners of the land." 3rd. "That Messrs. Cass, Cromwell, Shalders, and Marsh be appointed a committee to draw up a pctjtior. for signature, embodying the above, and" precept the saino-"h,t the noxt meeting of tho Borough Council." —There was considerable discussion on the seGond resolution, and Mr. Marsh moved as an amendment, seconded by Mr. Williams, "That this meeting thinks tho Corporation should pay ono half of the expense of paving, the other halt [to bo paid between tho owner aud opeupior ofthp property."-rThis amendment was lost. A'voto of .thinks to the Chairman concluded the proceedings.
