POLICE COURT.-Wednesday.

Pierce, Esqs., Justices.]

Drunkenness. —T. Killen, IT. Britt, Alice Taylor, B. Clayton, T. Stephens for first offences; and J. A. Western for a second offence, were punished in the usual manner.

Drunk and Disorderly.—Mai-y Smith, for being drunk and disorderly, was fined 203. and costs, or to be imprisoned 48 hours.

VAGBiNOY.—M. Collins, for being unlawfully on the premises of the Musick Hall, Symonds-streot, on tho 12th instant, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour.

Obstructing the Footpath:. —H. Bell, for having plrsed timber on the footpath in Q.ueen-street, on the 3rd instant, was sentenced to a fine of 20s. and costs, or to be iniprieoHedlono month.

Furious Biding.—Anno Millar pleaded guilty to furious riding in Shortland-street, on the 23rd June.—Mr. Joy appeared for tho defonee, and pleaded the circumstance of its being a first offence.—Fined 10s. and costs.

Municipal Police Court.— Q-. Ehodes, for not having kept a light burning during the night over a hoarding in Wyndhain-«treet. Fined 20s. and costs.

Escaping from Custody.—P. Shine was charged with escaping from custody while being conveyed to Mount Eden gaol on the 7th instant.—Constable Furlong deposed to tho facts of tho case. Tho prisoner had Blipped his hand through ono of tho handcuffs, and bolted down Newton 'Road. Witness failed to overtake bim. Prisoner disappeared through (ton. -u«.,h a nw tho *-"-£*- '"' North Road. When bolting prisoner had called out " Good ovening."—B. O'Brion, chief warder at the gaol, deposed to having seen prisoner prowling about in a shed at tho rear of the gaol, and arreßted him.—Prisoner made p. long statement as to his being under the influence of delirium tremens at the time, and expressed regret for what he had done. —Tho prisoner was comicitted for trial at tho Supreme Court.
