HEW CALEDONIA.
We are in receipt of files of the Moniteur to the 24th of June. The Moniteur speaks in a sanguine manner of the future of tho colony, believing that the mines at Diahofc will turn out really payable. A Portmaater and Commissioner of Mines has been appointed for Diahot, in the person of M. Varangot. In the issue of the Moniteur of the 14th of June appears a tariff to be charged on all liquors imported into the colony. A email veßßel belonging to an English settler named Georges was wrecked at Cape Bocege on the 3rd of May. Some interesting papers appear descriptive of the gold-mining districts. As usual, the files of our contemporary are rather bare of local news.
