THE TARARU LEASE QUESTION.

In accordance with the understanding arrived at on Wednesday laßt, another meeting was convened by advertisement to take place at three o'clock this afternoon, and at that hour the body of the Academy of Music was tolerably filled ; but ac the meeting progressed the place was crammed, and considerable interest was manifested throughout. Dr. Sam was voted to the chair, and immediately called upon Mr. Eowe to move the first resolution, who briefly pointed out the effect the Superintendent's late proclamation would have upon .the opening up of this out-district, and in a clear but exhaustive manner distinctly avowed that it would not have the desired effect of developing this district, but on the contrary, wiuld ace as a deterrent, not only to this, b :i; to the whole of the remainder of the peninsula. With the exception of Mr. Kowe's speech, and that of Mr. Carpenter, who seconded the resolution very briefly, arid took the opportunity of explaining his a sence at tho last meeting, the remainder of the speeches were by Messrs. Carljle and Hart, who supported the proclamation, but such was the excitement caused by their rambling from the subject, and becoming too personal, that the whole affair was wound up by a person rushing from the body of the meeting and forcibly ejecting Bart from the platform. This, of course, was the signal for others to join in the fray, and immediately the platform was stormed, and for a few minutes it looked as if a general fight would bo the result of this second meeting. After a little, the excitement cooled, and Dr. Sam resumed the chair, when if was carried "by acclamation that this day week another meeting should take place, and it is hoped that tho above scene will not be repeated.—[" Herald's" Correspondent, July B.]^
