-r. , ...i GAS. To the Editor of the Evening 9t_i_.. | Sfß,—l think it is high time there wl another Gas Company started, as the prij charged by the present Gas Company is jfcj high altogether. In the neighbouring col nies—Melbourne and Sydney—the gas fsj great deal cheaper than it is in Aucklatl The reason that it is so h'gh is because the is no opposition company. If a new compai was to start on the co-operative prlucipij it would be sure of success—shares to be I per share, and no shareholder to hold mo than twenty shares, and to be mostly disti buted among gas consumers. I am informed by competent judges th gas could be supplied at from. 103. to 12s. n 1003 feet in Auckland, and pay a reasons.! dividend, on the principle that I have m posed.—l am, &c, A Gas Consume*;
