THE AUCKLAND GYNNASIUM.
The Prince of Wales Theatre was excellently patronised last night, the occasion being a gymnastic entertainment in aid of the funds of Ihe Auckland Gymnasium. The principal performers were Mr. Walker's pupils, whose feats of agility reflected the highest credit on their preceptor, and elicited long and enthusiastic applause from the spectators. Athletic exercises have obtained a decided popularity in Auckland, and this Gymnasium is evidently a great success. Tho performances were, many of them, of a very high order, and urns'- have put to the blush the circus people, most of whom were present, their own place being shut up, whether by the rain, or the Prince of Wales, or by our honest criticisms, or by all three combined. The feats exhibited were of a much more interesting kind than the stock ones of the so-called professionals. Judging from the exhibition of last night, our Auckland Gymnasium is certainly an exceedingly useful end deserving institution..
