POLICE COURT.—Thursday.
DExrNKENNESS.—W. Beattie and W. Johns, for first offence, were fined each 10s. and costs. Eliza McGinn, for a third offence, was fined 20a. and costs, or to be imprisoned 48 hours, with hard labor.
•Riotous Conduct.—lt..Baimer and John Leonard were charged with having conducted themselves in such a manner as to lead to a breack of the peace. Both pleaded guilty, and were each sentenced to pay a fine of 20s. fiud cost*, or to be impriioned seven days, with hard labor.
Vagrancy.—John Morris was charged with occupying a house frequented by persons of disreputable character. Detectives Ternahan and Jeffery gave evidence as to tht disreputable character of the house, as being frequented by thieves and prostitutes. The names of certain parties in the habit of frequenting the house was given.—Sentenced to twe months, imprisonment with hard labor.
Larceny.—Rachel M#rgan was charged with having stolen a pair of boots belonging to W. Q-arty.—Prosecutor deposed to the boots having been taken by the woman ; and Detective Ternahan proved the receiving of the boots from W. Quick, with whom she had deposited them.—W. Quick corroborated the previous evidence, and proved receiving the boots from the woman.
Neglected Child.—Phoebe Brady, a child of four years, was brought up as a neglected child. A summons was ordered to issue for the father, and tho child was ordered to be sent for seven years to the Neglected and Destitute Children's School.
