In the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, before C. Mellsop, Esq., R.M., the following cases were heard :—

Breach op Doa Nuisance Act.—Thomas McQuoid, charged by Constable Greene with having a dog at large on the highway, without a colar, pleaded guilty, and was fined Is. and costs. —James Crone, for a similar case, was also fined Is. and costs.—George Farrell (another dog case) pleaded not guilty, and proved that ie was not the owner of the dog, which had "since been registered by ihe real owuer. Case withdrawn.

Civil Oases.^ —. Mundy, collector for Turanga Highway Board t. |Loughlin. Claim £8 ss. 4d. Plaintiff did not appear. Mr. Kiasling appeared for the defendant and obtained costs. — Mundy v. Thompson, claim £2 7s. Bd., for rates.' No appearance of either party.— McKelvy v. Tabb, claim £2 18s 3d. No appearance of defendant. Judgment by default. Labobny Fkom s.s. Go-Ahead.—A man was brought up in custody on suspicion of boing concerned in the robbery from the steamer of a bos containing dl the ship's paper, and about £120 in notes, but no evidence being produced he was, at once discharged.
