We rejoice that we have not been called on to record a melancholy catastrbphe, resulting from the overpowering, influence of the master pasdon, but - a boat luckily came to the rescue and saved the lover from a watery grave. As the accident occurred forward, the escape from the paddle-wheels was very narrow, and at the time the waterman (Mr. Fletcher) picked him up bis life, if not his love, was well nigh quenched. The dripping lover, looking very cold, was restored to the delighted gaze of the sable angel, while his rival, was borne away rapidly to the Thames, doubtless with feelings to be imagined but not described.
