DISTRICT COURT.—Monday.
[Before Thomas Beetham, Esq., District j Judge.] DEFENDED CASES. Fentoit and Owen v. Wade.—Mr. Sheehan for the plaintiff; Mr. J. B. Russell for the defendant. —His Honor suggested that the matter should he settled by arbitration, and to this course the various parties agreed. RICE V. GKalbraith. —This was a jury case.—Mr. Sheehan, who appeared for. the plaintiff, said the case had been adjourned by mutual consent until next Court day.— The jurymen were then warned to be present on that occasion. Bttgden T. Nash.—Claim, £100. This case has stood upon the list for several Court days past.—Mr. Sheehan now asked that it might be further adjourned. — The Court agreed to this course, but remarked that if the parties weie not present next Coart day the oase would be struck out. Waitakebbi Prospecting G-old Mitfrsa Company.—This was a case of winding-up.— Mi. J. B. Russell applied that it might be adjourned until next Court day.—Agreed to. Feeeman's Bat Gold Mining Company. —This was also a winding*up case. A number, of solicitors appeaivd for various shareholders, and alleged that their clients had paid up their calls, and were liable for nothing. The money th«y alleged had been paid to the legal manager. In ■reference v to 'costs. the Court remarked that it wbiild certainly award "costs in all cases where-share-holders who had paid their proportion of the contributions were brought unnecessarily to the Court through the negligence or wrongful conduct of the legal manager. Some discussion took place on the question of costs. The case was adjourned until next Court day. G-beat Eeiianck Gold 2iixing Compant. —This care was adjourned until iiv.it Court day. AUSTEALASIAN GcOUD MINING COMPANY.— In this case Mr. Walter, one of the shareholders, prored that he had paid the amount of his contribution to the former Official Agent.—The Court said it would defer its decision in regard to Mr. Waller till next Court day, when this company would again come before the Court in the caße of the other shareholders. There were several other gold mining cases, ! but they were all adjourned until next Court day. UNDEFENDED CASES. JUDGMENTS FOB PLAINTIFFS.—Thomai E. Fitzgerald v. M. J. Logan, £75 ; B. O'Meara y. H. Te Ratu, £24. Adjodbnh).—Must and Co. v. Simeon Tills. (Left sitting.)
