WILL BE PUBLISHED, .On OB ABOUOD THE IST DAT OF JULY, O!i ANY TIME THEKBAFTER, ? -- T-H.-K- Fi-f-ST JSUMBEK OF THE MOUSING STAR, A NEW DAILY JOUBNAL. THE deplorable position of Auckland, deprived as it is of newspaper accommodation, and plunged as the people are in dismnl darkness, has piompted the proprietors of thia journal to issue a MORNING- PAPER, the like of which has never been known in the annals of journalism. It is evident to all persons desirous of advertising that the njpre newspapers there are in a district, the cost of advertising is further decreased, and it is mainiy with the desire of affording^ additional facilities to^the business people of-'the city that, this enterprise is undertaken. THE MORNING STAR will dwell in a region" uncontamina.ted with the degrading consideration of sublunary things, and from that etherial sphere will look down with pity on the sectarian and political strivings of mortal existences. From that point of moral and elevation, it will be in a position to record not merely the events of earth, but th« gyrations of-the planetary world, and the pro"grefsion of the so-called- fixed stars, while it will'ffitch its key in 'harmony :with-the:inusic of the spheres. It will not be an Auckland paper, nor yet a provincial paper, neither a colonial paper—in fucfr, no-paper at all, but a isun —a blazing sun—and not a satellite, illuminating space. wi*h its effulgence^ yWords fail us in the effort to describe what it will be ; but we shall curb our impetuous imagination, : and deign to state how it will affect the vulgar concerns of this little place—Auckland. It ia well known, for example, that emissaries of the Commune are at present in Aucklaud, and that principles subversive not simply of British authorityf--blit tending-.to'the 'overthrow of social order and morality and religion, are presumptuously advocated in our midst. It will be the unflinching advocate of loyalty — religion — freedom—and the uncompromising enemy of Communism, the Devil, and Tom Russell. In the person of the Colonial Treasurer it sees Apollyon, and touching him as with the spear of Ithuriel, will reveal his horns and his '.Jail, and his cloven hoofs to an amazed 'people. In philanthropy, seince, morals, and everything that tends to elevate and purify, in literature and in general news, it (will, of course, not only surpass all the colonial papers/but will be a model to the journalism <>f the world. Its speciality, however, will be its perfect independence ; in far*, in this respect it will exemplify he character of the bird that perches on the .Rocky Mountains and flaps the North and South poles with the wings of freedom ; and sii«tair.ed as it is by the wealth of the " Caledonian," it will soon extinguish that tyranny..under which our citizens have been bo long groaning in bondage. - x* '"' We have pr p.ired a large number of blank sheets to enrol the Aauvaof subscribers to thp MORNING- SIAR, and should a sufficient number uf subscribers to warrant the publication, be obtnined by the end ot June, the first number will appeur on the l*t of July. If there are not enough,~it will not. We fee! the humiliation of hinting at the pecuniary aspect, but Our,charge1 wilFbe the low price of one penny, to be paid in advance; and to ensure our ability to-carry on the publication we shall, as in the case of journals prev'ously started and burst-up, in Auckland, ask for tLupurchase of a quarter's papers in advance, together with a shilling to pay the runners,: these amounts being iiot returnable. We regret being under the necessity of making these stipulations, but they' are reluctantly made, for reasons to which we need not further refer^ and' of er which we have no control. N.B.—No alteration in the issue of the EVENING STAti, which will came out daily as the second appeaiance of the MORNINGSTAR with diminished size, and shorn of its rays. , . ~
