June 5. —The agreement between the Ac;entGeneral and the British and Australian Telegraph Company arrived by,thia niail for the Governor's signature.—The Queen has assented to the South Australian Bill' legalising marriage with a deceased wife's sister, in consideration of the strong feeling expressed in this colony in favour of the measure.—The local insurance companies lose heavily by the wreck of tho Queen of the Thames. The Mercantile Office, £6000 ; National, £2000; Adelaide, £4000 ; and South Australian Office' not yet known.—Tho commercial news is considered very favourable.—The flag-at Government House is half-mast high,in consequence of the death of Colonel Kobe, formerly Governor of South Australia.—A telegram, dated 13th May, from the Agent-General, states that notice has been given to terminate the nostal contract with the P. and O. Co.—The' mail neVs has not affected business as yet. ?Juno I. —Five hundred pounds reward is offered by the insurance companies ior the discovery of tbo person who set fire to Ball aid Huntley'a brewery.—Earn Jam has been committed for,the manslaughter of a Chinaman who died in hospital yesterday.
