RESIDENCE SITES AT KURANUI.
The Warden adjudicated this morning in respect to several applications for residence sites. Messrs. Fletcher, Guthrie, McGoll, and McConnell had applied for residence sites at the Kuranui, and the granting of these - was objected to on the part of the Kuranui Company/as the ground was included within the boundaries of their lease.—Mr. Tyler, on behalf of Mr. Macdonald, appeared for the company. — Mr. O'Meara produced the counterparts of the lease of the Kuranui Company, and Mr. Millett pointed out the ground applied for, on the old Magenta ground. The Warden said that the certificate by the Assistant Engineer stated that the ground was at present occupied by buildings and works, and did not recommend the applications, the ground being required for mining purposes. The leaseholders objected to the. applications, and he must decide to refuse them. Whenever leaseholders objected to arty residence site being granted, he always sustained the objection, If the leaseholders did not take the trouble-to object; he granted tho applications, subject to the rights of the leaseholders. For that-, reason he would refuse the applications.— Thames Mail. ■
