Detained it, and cams with defendant to the Police Office.— Prisoner, who stated he had found the article at Mechanics' Bay, but whose previous character was against him, was imprisoned for 10 days.

Licensing Act.—Peter McArthur was charged with not having a light burning over hia hotel door, in Chancery-lane, during the night of the 30th ult.—Constable Egan deposed that he hod examined, at several times, from 1.30 to 5 a.m., and found the. lamp not. lighted.—Constable Shanaghan corroborated the previous evidence.—Conflicting evidence was given for the defence by Kichard Coulson, who described himself as a "practical doctor," whose peculiar practice is in the treatment of the endemics of Chancery-lane ; but defjudant was fined 20s and costs.
