" Bogues' Corner" has come under the ban of the police, and " move on" is the order of "the day. Whether it is that " Bobby" is annoyed at the indignity put upon him by the charge of dabbling with the unclean thing called " scrip" when clad in the trappings of the Armed Constabulary, or whether it is from the real inconvenience caused to sane persons when passing the junction of Queen and Shortland-streets, the new order will produce considerable " animation," literally, in the share market. " Birds of a feather flock together," but why on earth the most crowded portion of our most crowded thoroughfares should have been selected as a roost in this particular case, it is difficult to divine. The proximity of certain of our leading brokers has had something to do with the original selection, but as every place all over the town where an office can be found contains one of these persons, like a spider waiting for flies, there is no special reason remaining why this corner should be devoted to the scrip maniacs at large. Surely the interests of our goldfields are sufficiently important to warrant the institution of a. Mining .Exchange. Nothing could be more admirably suited for this purpose than the large central hall or court of the New Zealand Insurance Company's building. It seems an unbearable indignity say for a " Caledonian " to be rudely jostled by a policeman and bidden to remove himself from the public thoroughfare ; and the look of indignation likely to result is more than the Armed Constabulary should be called on to bear. Everything con-
sidered, we do hope that a lodgement of some kind will be found for the new interest, and that enforced vagabondage will not be added to the manyother pains of the scrip market.
