PRESENTATION TO DR. PIERCE.

A very interesting ceremony took place on Thursday evening, at the Lodge Room, British Hotel, upon the occasion of the presentation of an address to Dr. S. D. Pierce, who has been connected with, the City of Auckland Lodge No. 3978, Ancient Order of Foresters, for the last nine years. About 70 members of the Order and their wives were present, pnd the presentation was made by P.C.R. Augur, in a few appropriate and well-timed remarks, to which Dr. Pierce responded in very feeling termß_. The address is a very handsomely illuminated one, and is enclosed in a beautiful franc constructed of New Zealand wood. The whole affair is very elegantly got up, and will serve to remind the Doctor of many haPPy years spent in New Zealand. .After the presentation the remainder of the evening was given up to conviviality, with musical accompaniments. On Monday next a similar presentation will be made by the Ancient Order of Oddfellows, and Dr. Pierce will leave for England in the ship Caducous in thecourse of the week.
