It is hereby notified that, in pursuance of Section j 7 of the Auckland Harbour Hoard Act, 1871, on MONDAY next, the 15th May, 1871, at the hour of Noon, a MEETING of the ELECTORS duly qualified for the Election of Members of the Auckland Harbour g Board, will be held in the Hall of the Mechanics* f Institute, Auckland, at which Meeting three members | of the said Board shall be elected by ballot, by at majority of the Electors then present. Three members of such Board shall be elected ing the month of May, 1871, by and out of the persons I who shall have paid two pounds or upwards -of port,f harbour, pilotage, or wharfage dues or charges wishing the port of Auckland during the preceding year, oife who at time of such election shall be, or within twenty-as eight days preceding such election shall have been, the* owners or part owners, and whose names shall appeaiE as such owners or part owners within such twentyS eight days on the books of the Custom-house *0 Auckland, of any vessel to the .extent of twenty.tons or upwards. Provided, however, that in any^> case where such dues or charges shall have been'jl paid by two or more persons jointly, or. wherey any such vessel as aforesaid shall be owned by more I than one person, only one of such persons' paying or' owning, as tho case may be, shall be entitled to vote! respect of such payment or ownership. . 7. On the third Monday in the month of May, 1871, j at the hour of noon, in a place to be previously noti- ; fled by the Superintendent of the province, a meeting j of the electors qualified as in the last preceding sec- j tions mentioned shall be held, at which meeting, not less than ten electors being present, the aforesaid ' three members of the Board shall be elected by ballot: by a majority of the qualified electors then present, the said meeting having power to elect its own chair- ! man, who shall have a casting vote, but no deliberative vote, and who shall decide aU- questions of qualiflca- i tions to vote by causing the claimant then and there to produce receipts in his favour for the before-mon-tioned dues or charges, or a certificate of ownership, ; or other sufficient document from the Collector of Customs or other proper officer,, as the case may be. £OA R E W , A R D. Whereas some evil disposed person or persons did wilfully and maliciously lay down poison on the grounds ot the undersigned, in Romuera District, between Saturday and Sunday:last, whereby several Valuable Dog 3 belonging to them were poisoned.
