Barny was further charged with this offence, and haying been convicted on the testimony of Constable O'Connor, was sentenced to a fine of 20s and costs, or to be imprisoned 48 hours , Thbeatenin» Language.—Kate Cape wa§ charged by Susan Conley with threatening to put a knife into her heart. Mr. Wynn for the prosecution, Mr. Joy for the defence. Adjourned till Thursday on defendant finding a surety of £20 to be of good conduct. Protection to Animals Act.—John Heath was charged by Frederick Whitaker with haying trespassed with dog and gun, on the Ist May, on certain lands at Takapuna.—Mr. Whitaker deposed: On the Ist inst. defendant was on my lands at Takapuna with dog and gun and game bag, apparently searching for game. —To defendant: You were close to the waterfall, not on the road.—Defendant explained that he was coming down from the range by the only track he knew, when he was told by Mr. Whitaker that he was trespasBing. Fined 5s and costs.—Edward Nicholson was similarly charged.—Mr. Whitaker explained that he brought the charges only to show the young men that they had no right to trespass on private lands without permission of the proprietor. Fined, in the same amount. Impounding Act.—Thomas Hamilton was fined 2s 6d, for allowing a cow to stray in Wellesley-street.—Harry Dormer was charged with having tethered a goat in Wellesleystreet. Defendant explained that it was in a part where vehicles have never gone, and that it was for the use of his wife and children who are sick. Case dismissed with a caution. Do& Nuisance Act.—James Conley, S. Compton, D. Manning, and J Hooper were each fined Is for allowing dogs abroad without tickets.—A similar case against Joseph Craig was dismissed; ownership not being proved. Municipal Police Act.—C. Richardson, for allowing his chimney, in Barrack-street, to take fire, was fined 2s 6d and costs.—M. Monaghan, for allowing a horse to. stray in Symonds-street, was fined 2s 6d and costs.
