ARRIVAL OF THE LORD ASHLEY.
The s.s. Lord Ashley, Capt. Andrew, arrived in harbour this morning. She left Port Chalmers on April 19, at 10.30 a.m.; fresh southeast wind, with heavy southerly sea. At 4 a.m., next day, arrived at Akaroa ; proceeded again at 6.30. Anchored at Lyttelton at 11.30 same night. At 3.45 p.m., of 22nd, cast off from the wharf, and proceded to sea ; moderate north-east winds, and hazy weather. 23rd, at 8 a.m., passed Cape Campbell; light N.W. winds and fine weather; at 10.30 p.m. arrived alongside the Wellington wharf; sailed from thence on the 25th, at 10.46 a.m.; rounded Cape Palliser at 2.30 p.m.; light northern winds and smooth water. On the 26th, at 11 a.m., anchored in Napier roadstead, discharged passengers, mails, and cargo, and proceeded at 4.30 p.m.; at 4.50 a.m. of the 27th passed the steamer Star of the South of Gable End Foreland. Rounded East Cape at 11.30 a.m. ; light northerly winds'and fine weather, and smooth water ; at 8 p.m. passed White Island, eased the engines; -light and calm. On the 26th, at 6.30 a.m., anchored in Tauranga roadstead, discharged 30 tons cargo, and sailed at 1 p.m.; passed through the Hole in the Wall at 7.30 p.m.; passed Cape Co^ville at 10.49 p.m., light north-east wind ; arrived at 3 a.m. to-day. Passengers: Saloon —Messrs. McGlashan, Plimmer, W. M. Commone, Captains Johnston, Tod, Mrs. Fisher, Messrs. Stobo, Brown, McJFarlane, Major Muir, Messrs. S. L. Clark, Vairo, Nathan, JKJelly, D. Graham, and 18 steerage.
