NOTICE TO MARINERS. "jl/TASTEBS of Vessels trading up the River Thames beyond the Line of Telegraph, are hereby Publicly requested to give Notice both to the Harbormaster and the Officer in charge of the Telegraph Station, at Grabamstown, of the day and hour they wish to pass the Telegraph Wires, stating at the same time the height of their mast from the water's edge, so that the wires may be lowered when found necessary. Attention is called to the Electric Telegraph Act, 1865, Article 14 :—" Any person who shall wilfully injure or destroy any of the wires, cords, insulators, posts, &c, &c, shall, on conviction for every su^ offence, forfeit and pay a penalty of not less than Five Pounds nor exceeding One Hundred Pounds, or be imprisoned for any period not exceeding six months." Article 19 provides for repair, ing the damage done. Any Master of Vessel or Pilot wilfully Injuring the Telegraph Wires after this Public Notice, will be immediately proceeded against.
