ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. HERO
The fine s.s. Hero. Captain Logan, arrived in harbour this morning, bringing the English Mail via Suez.
The Hero left Sydney and cleared the Heads at 6 p.m. on the 19th instant; rounded the North Cape at 6 a.vi. on the 24th, and arrived in Auckland harbour on the 25th. On the passage across, the Hero experienced light variable winds until the morning of the 22nd, when a light, easterly breeze set in, w Thich gradually increased and blew very fresh, with a heavy head sen, until daylight of the 241]), when the wind moderated, and so continued until arrival in port. Fine weather prevailed until noon of J ho 20th, then cloudy and hazy, with heavy rain, dining the uext twenty-four hours, and fine weather the remainder of the passage. The Hci'o brings a very large cargo and the following Passexgees — From Melbourne : Mrs. Masters and family (7), Mrs. Simms and 2 children, Messrs. G. W. Booker, W. Buchanan, G. Bennett, and 11 in the steerage. From Sydney: Captain Fox, Mr. Kirkpatrick, Mr. M. 11. Burrell, and 10 in the steerage.
