ARRIVAL OF THE GO-AHEAD
The Taranaki Steam Navigation Company's s.s. Go ahead, P. Doile, commander, arrived at the Manukau wharf at 10 a.m. to-day, from Waitara, Taranaki, and South. Captain Doile reports leaving Wellington at 4.30 p.m. on the 7th instant, having on board 120 passengers, and a full cargo, for Manuwatu. Experienced light S.E. winds, arriving off the bar at 7 a.m. on the 8th, and at Foxtown at noon. Landed cargo and emigrants, and crossed the bar for Wanganui at noon on the 9th, arriving at Wanganui wharf at 10.30 p.m., having waited for tide. Sailed from Wanganui at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the 11th, and had W. and S. winds till arrival off Taranaki, at 6 p.m. Started with excursionists at 1 p.m. on the 12th for Waitara, arriving there at 2.25 p m. Shipped cattle, sheep, and pigs, and crossed Waitara bar at 8 a.m. on the 17th. Experienced fresh S. winds first part of the passage, and strong S.W, winds the remainder ; was hove-to during the night, crossing the bar at 8 a.m. on the 18th instant. She has brought her live stock in first-class condition, without loss. Passengers :—Messrs. J. H. Smith, W. Snell, W. Bayley, and A. Bayley, Mrs. Connell. We are indebted to Mr. A. R.
