ATHLETIC SPORTS
The feats of »edestiianism were brought to a close yesterday afternoon, at the Albert Barracks. After the races enumerated by us in our yesterday's issue, the next race was the One Mile Handicap Bicycle Kace, which caused great interest, and resulted in the following order of competitors : —Clarke, Fletcher, Henderson. The 100 yards race between Harris and Hewitt was again run, which, it is said, resulted in Harris winning by three inch.es ; but so close was the struggle that the result is still a moot point with the bystanders. The next race was 150 yards flat race, for boys under 15 years, and resulted in—Park l<t. Brassey 2nd, botli having got a start of 13 yards. The second heat resulted a? follows :—Balncavis, Phillips, Wynn. The four mile walking match resulted in — Kdvvurdes, 1 ; Spence, 2. The final heat of the boys 150 yards race resulted ia the following order—Ealneavis, Peak, Brassey, Phillips. In the 440 yards handicap hurdle race, the result was — Harris, Manning, Ellis. TUe last was the " Occidental Prize," race for a silver watch and chain presented by Mr. Perkins, of the Occidental Hotel. This was run in three heats. In the first the order was Bloomfield, Wynn ; in the second, Peak, Shepherd ; and'in the third, Shepherd, Peak. This was the last race of the Athletic Sport?, the conduct of which reflects the greatest credit on Mr. Killsden, and the committee charged with the inanHgement.
