DUNEDIN.
March 30.—The census returns show that the population of the province of Otago is 70,000, being au increase of nearly I_,ooo since ISG7. —A boat accident happened on the Pleasant River on Sunday, by which a boy named Itvau was drowned.—The libel case is concluded for the present. Barton has been committed on both charges. Macaesey spoke for three hours.
