[Before E. Isaacs, Esq., J.P.] ♦Drunkenness. —Two persons were punished for this offence. Bteayino- Cattle. —Alfred Fossetb and Thomas Hamilton were each fined 5s and costs for allowing cattle to stray. —John McLeary, for a second offence, wa3 fined 10s and costs, or to be imprisoned for seven days —J. Dickson, for allowing a goat to stray, was fined a shilling. —S. McPlierson, not appearing, wa9 fined 5s for a similar offence. "Plaintiff deposed;to hie having been disturbed by the noiße of Ihe blow. T. McLerie deposed to having seen the stone thrown by defendant. Had been dared to throw the stone by three companione.—Fined 10s and costs. A delay of upwards of half-an-hour here occurred while the constables were all around the town in search of another magistrate. At length Mr. Or. B. Owen took his seat on the Bench, this not being his day according to the rota, and business proceeded. Assault.—John Quinlau was . charged by Peter Carroll with having violently assaulted him.—Mr. Bennett for. the prosecution. Mr. Tyler, for the defence, pleaded g*ilty, and pleaded extenuating circumstances, defendant having been at the time under the Influence of drink, and irritated at the recollection of a wrong done him on a former occasion. Mr., Bennett pressed for a full penalty. Fined £2, and costs, or to be imprisoned 14 days.
